Dilemma Solved--I Hope!

In a couple of weeks, I will begin my baking classes. As a Baking and Pastry student, I am thrilled and excited. As a weight watcher, I am terrified!

Today, I went to my regular meeting. The topic was how to deal with the holidays. One of the questions posed was, "How many actual days do you need to worry about being off track?" Most people could answer maybe five or six. I am always the weird one. I had to answer all but five or six days.

For the most part, things won't change for most people. They'll do their normal day-to-day things. I, however, will be starting my baking classes and know that I'll be doing a lot of BLTs (bites, licks and tastes). Those can be sneaky little points that can get over looked.

I definitely don't want to gain weight and would really like to lose another 20 lbs before the end of the year. So, today I did a little thinking and have come up with my game plan for the next 4 months, the amount of time I'll be in classes.

First, I need to--no, commit to!--going to the gym or walking each day before class. This will help burn any extra points I miss counting.

Next, I will eat low points foods earlier in the day, just before leaving for school. If I'm full on the good stuff, that will keep me from munching on not-so-healthy options during class.

I will always have a banana and water bottle with me if I get hungry. Again, keeping full will help the snacking.

Lastly, I will be sure to have points available for BLTs. If I build them in to my daily routine, I won't feel guilty and can make sure I'm preparing each dish with quality.

So, that's my plan. Fingers crossed! What's your plan for the holidays?
